UC is celebrating Alumni Week, with the centerpiece a bold, colorful, downtown Cincinnati mural depicting our 2022 UC Alumni Celebration honorees. For all they do to serve their industries, their communities and their university, they aren’t just outstanding alumni — they’re Superheroes! And this year, we honor them accordingly.
The Alumni Celebration is headlined by William Howard Taft Medalists Paul and Kim Polman, whose dedication to the cultivation of a sustainable global society provides inspiration and a blueprint for tomorrow. (Watch their tribute video.) Done in “superhero style,” this dynamic new community artwork at 1430 Vine St. in Over-the-Rhine will remain on display for the next year. Not only do these 19 alumni deserve such treatment because of their personal and professional contributions, but they also represent all Bearcats who, in their own ways, make the world a better place every day.
A variety of Alumni Week festivities will help alumni connect with their alma mater, both remotely and on campus. At Saturday’s Golden Bearcat Society Reunion we’ll welcome back those who graduated 50+ years ago. Another highlight is Thursday and Friday’s UC Day of Giving, the 24-hour philanthropic event where the Bearcat faithful lend their financial support to UC causes important to them, which echoes the Alumni Celebration theme; after all, what’s more “superheroic” than strengthening the UC community?
Beginning with our tribute to alumni excellence and ending with Spring Commencement’s arrival of thousands of new members of the UC alumni family, April is an extraordinary month. On behalf of the UC Alumni Association, thanks for your devotion to our university community and for making a super-important difference!
Go Bearcats!
