UC Delivers Significant Economic Boost
|
OUR ANNUAL IMPACT: $10.6 BILLION ON REGION; $22.7 BILLION ON STATE
|
It’s well known that the University of Cincinnati is a powerful economic engine for the Greater Cincinnati region and the state of Ohio. Through its vast operations and research spending, the demand for goods and services by its students and employees, the continuous launch of UC-driven startups, and especially the great numbers of alumni affecting the market in multiple ways, the university is a juggernaut. And now a new study offers hard data that makes the point impressively clear.
During the 2021-22 fiscal year (June through July), UC’s overall impact on the 16-county regional business community was $10.6 billion in added income, which supported over 125,000 jobs. Statewide, UC increased the economic base by $22.7 billion. Of the $10.6 billion figure, our alumni account for $6.6 billion and more than 78,000 jobs. Their UC educations and enormous expertise translate to higher earnings, which likewise increase the productivity and bottom lines of the businesses where they work. Go beyond these raw numbers and the ripple effects are incalculable.
There is always great focus placed on those Bearcats currently enrolled at UC, and rightfully so. After all, ours is a vibrant environment dedicated to training new generations to bend the future. As our students might say, “We got Next” — and they absolutely deliver after they graduate. The collective impact of our alumni in their communities is the living proof of UC’s tremendous value proposition. It’s yet another reason to be proud of our alma mater and the excellence that permeates our UC alumni family.
Go Bearcats!
